Custom Foot Orthotics
They are custom- made removable inserts that are placed right into your shoe in order to create support and comfort for your feet. Orthotics are custom made to precisely match the contour of your feet and are designed based on the way you walk. Thus, making them more efficiently than over-the-counter (OTC) arch supports that are designed for a mass of people and are not specific to your needs only.
How Do I Know If I Need Custom Foot Orthotics?
If you have any foot, ankle, or low back pain, orthotics may help you. If that is the case, we suggest you schedule an assessment with Dr. Bucek. Once the scans are complete, Dr. Bucek will go over the results with you. The software produces a report that shows whether or not each foot is moving appropriately throughout the “gait cycle” (or, walking cycle) or if there is proper arch support. If the report shows areas that are deficient, it would mean that you may benefit from orthotics.
How Do You Test For Orthotics?
The test for Orthotics comprises two parts: a static (standing) and dynamic (walking) assessment. We use software that uses a digital scanner to capture images statically and dynamically. While you walk across the scanner, it captures images at a rate of 300/second which allows the software to capture images of the foot in all phases while walking to ensure you get the proper support. The entire process takes less than 2 minutes.

What Can Orthotics Help Treat?
Orthotics can help in reducing the pain brought on by a variety of problem ranging from plantar fasciitis, flat feet, heel pain, and Achilles’ tendonitis. Orthotics are used to control how the foot and ankle move while walking and offer the foot and ankle proper support while standing. Having good control and support at the foot offers the rest of the body a firm foundation and also provides support for those with chronic low back and hip pain.
Can Kids Get Orthotics?
Yes they can. However, since they are still growing, they may need multiple pairs until they’re done growing. The orthotic company we use has programs available to help with this situation; ask the staff for more details.
Does My Insurance Cover Orthotics?
A majority of the PPO Insurances may cover orthotics; however, it is recommended that you contact your insurance company directly. When we verify your insurance benefits, we inquire about your orthotics coverage; however, it isn’t always a guarantee the orthotics will be covered. If your insurance does not cover orthotics, the staff will discuss their cost with you directly.
